1950: Dwayne Osepchuk of Southbound Freeway is born in Edmonton.

1955: Paul Hyde, formerly of The Payola$ and rock duo Rock and Hyde is born in Yorkshire, England as Paul Nelson.

1957: Paul Anka releases “Diana.”

1957: Teenage Head‘s guitarist Gord Lewis is born in Toronto.

1968: Captain Tractor singer/guitarist Chris Wynters is born in London, UK.

1970: Neil Young, as part of CSNY, record one of the angriest and greatest protest songs of the decade, “Ohio.”

1972: Crowbar is in North York, Ontario for a show at the Centennial Arena. Also on the card are April Wine, Mashmakhan, and Mainline.

1976: Paul Anka is hosting “Midnight Special” for the third time. This time he only performs one song himself – “Put Your Head On My Shoulder.”

1980: Ernie Williams is in Eastbourne, Alberta for a show at the Community Hall.

1982: Loverboy is home in Vancouver for a show at PNE Coliseum. Opening is Bryan Adams.

1985: Lee Aaron is in Birmingham, England, opening for Bon Jovi at the Odeon.

1987: Anvil release their STRENGTH OF STEEL album, their only record to make it to Billboard’s top 200 chart.

2002: Neil Young is live at Brixton Academy in London, England.

2005: Harem Scarem releases OVERLOAD in Japan. The European verson came out four days earlier.

2006: As part of their blitz of Canadian policymakers, Barenaked Ladies frontman Steven Page and his colleagues Andrew Cash and Brendan Canning of Broken Social Scene stop in for a meeting with the editorial board of the Ottawa Citizen. These discussions often involve politicians and diplomats, and matters of copyright, WIPO, their reception and responses from responsible ministers.

2011: Sam Roberts debuts the video for his new single, “I Feel You” on MuchMusic.

2017: Whale & The Wolf release their new single, “Touch.”

2019: Justin Beiber’s duet with Ed Sheehan, “I Don’t Care” debuts on Billboard’s pop chart at #2.
