After The Lounge

After The Lounge has been quietly honing their craft since its inception in 2001. The brainchild of frontman G. S. Bollert and guitarist Bryan Parsons, the lineup’s rounded out with Jefferson Shephard on bass and Carlos Ta Torre on drums.

The London, Ont based group has established itself as a crowd favourite, and have shared the stage with the likes of Helix, Blue Oyster Cult, and John Corbani (Ratt, Motley Crue). With their new release, LIGHTS GO OUT, they’ve claimed their place as one of Canada’s hottest unsigned groups you don’t want to miss out on.

“Rock n Roll To The Next City” is perfectly suited to be the lead-off tracks on an album that’s full of energy, slick, and ballsy. The band’s first video is for the title track, with clean metal axe riffs. That same attention to detail is indicative of the whole record, with “Give It To Me” and “Before My Eyes” particular standouts for me, personally. But you’ll have your own favourites.

It takes guts for a bunch of young rockers influenced by the likes of Metallica, KISS, and Zeppelin to cover “Folsom Prison Blues,” but with an unmatched groove, they pull it off quite well – The Man In Black is smiling. It’s also further testament to the band’s wide gamut of influences. Blend them all together, and a splash of attitude all their own, and you’ve got a great promising talent.

Reaching” and “Stay Right Here” are strong power ballads, where tight licks and well-written stories of heart-felt angst, and either is still an easy choice as a radio single or their next video.

After the Lounge is on a one-way road to bigger things, and they’re driving the only way they know how – full out and full speed. Buckle up, it’s going to be a great ride.
