 Hailing from Whitehorse, Claire Ness has made her mark as one of the hottest commodoties, and most versatile performers the Yukon has ever offered up.It takes a special performer to get a crowd to join in the song and enjoy itself. And Pierceland was treated to two of them on Thursday night, March 3rd when Atlantic Canadas Andrew Sneddon (left) and Matthew Hornell stopped by Maguires Bridge for an intimate evening of stories and songs. They both have albums under their belts, have both won a number of awards back East, and have shared the stage together many times. I was offered a Juno this morning, but unfortunately I was busy trying to get the car unstuck, Hornell joked, who noted throughout the evening that a lot of his songs come either on the heel of a relationship breakup, or beginning a new one. It was that sort of personal intimacy from both artists that kept the packed house enveloped in the evening. Mixing the old with the new, they entertained the enthralled crowd with some originals, as well as their interpretations of some traditional bluegrass and folk standards, mixed with some updated versions of Celtic classics too old to know who the original author is.
