1952: Opera star Jeanne Gordon succumbs to a heart attack in her Macon, Missouri home. She was 67.
1958: The Alan Freed movie, "The Big Beat," which features The Diamonds, among other artists, debuts in Detroit.
1960: Conductor Percy Faith starts a 9-week run at No.1 on the US chart with "Theme From A Summer Place."
1965: Barry Allen releases the single, "Easy Come Easy Go."
1966: The Skaliwags release their first single, "Turn Him Down."
1967: The Paupers are at New York's Cafe Au Go Go, opening for Jefferson Airplane.
1967: Buffalo Springfield make their first TV appearance, performing "For What It's Worth" on ABC's Where The Action Is.
1971: Formerly called the RPM Gold Leaf Awards, the first Juneau Awards is held in St Lawrence Hall in Toronto. They were named after Pierre Juneau, the first head of the Canadian Radio-Television Commission. That name became shortened for the awards to Juno the following year. Gordon Lightfoot wins Top Male Vocalist. Anne Murray wins her first of nine for Top Female Vocalist. Guess Who win for top group, and Pierre Juneau is awarded "Music Industry Man of the Year" award.
1977: Prism is in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan for a show at Cornerstone Inn.
1979: Triumph is in Louisville, Kentucky for a show at the Memorial Auditorium.
1981: Streetheart play a sold-out show at Aitken University Centre in Fredricton, NB.
1982: Saga are in Copenhagen, Denmark for the first of three sold out shows. They become part of the IN TRANSIT lp.
1986: Bruce Cockburn hands over a cheque for $28,000 to the Council of the Haida First Nation after doing two shows at the Queen Elizabeth Theatre in Vancouver. The Haidans used the concert proceeds in their fight to stop logging on Lyell Island in the Queen Charlottes.
1990: Cowboy Junkies release their THE CAUTION HORSES album.
1991: Harlots Webb are home in Vancouver for a show at the 86th Street Music Hall.
1991: Moving Targetz open for Killer Dwarfs at Bakersfield Night Club in Niagara Falls, Ontario.
