1885: Opera star Jeanne Gordon is born in Wallaceburg, Ontario as Ruby Jeanne Gordon.

1948: Corky Laing, drummer for Mountain, is born in Montreal.

1954: Fiddle/ukelele/guitar player Glenn Simmons (The Wonderful Grand Band, Fables) is born in Greens Harbour, NFLD.

1959: The Diamonds release their last single to make the American top 40 – “Little Darlin’.”

1959: Four Lads peak at #52 on Billboard’s chart with “The Girl On Page 44.”

1961: Guitarist Colin Cripps, whose resume includes Junkhouse, Crash Vegas, Blue Rodeo, Jim Cuddy Band, Bryan Adams, and Kathleen Edwards, among others, is born in Hamilton.

1967: Ugly Ducklings enter the Canadian top 40 at #86 with “Just In Case.”

1968: Les Sultans are in Sherbrooke, Quebec for a show at The Starovan. The show is taped and becomes part of their live album later that year, EN PERSONNE – LES SULTANS A LA STAROVAN.

1974: Terry Jacks‘ “Seasons In The Sun” is atop Canada’s RPM singles chart for the second of a four week run.

1977: Max Webster play their first live gig outside of Canada, the first of two nights in Columbus, Ohio.

1986: Corey Hart sells over a million copies in Canada of BOY IN THE BOX, certifying it diamond.

1986: Kick Axe and Lee Aaron are in Ottawa for a show at the National Arts Centre.

1995: Joni Mitchell plays a live radio broadcast from LA’s Gene Autry Theater, over 150 stations.

2018: Jazz master, Edmonton institution and former senator Tommy Banks dies of natural causes at 81.
