1963: 17 year-old Neil Young performs his second professional date at a country club in Winnipeg with The Squires – their second night in a row.

1969: Joni Mitchell plays Carnegie Hall in New York for the first time.

1972: Neil Young releases his pinacle album, HARVEST.

1973: They’ve been retired for less than a year, but John Kay resurrects the Steppenwolf name, tho he promises to continue his solo career as well. Few see the difference.

1975: Mahogany Rush is in Atlanta for a show at the Electric Ballroom.

1975: Anne Murray’s cover of The Beatles’ “Day Tripper” peaks at #30 on the Canadian pop chart.

1975: Ray Materick peaks at #26 on the Canadian pop chart with “Linda Put The Coffee On.”

1979: Streetheart release their UNDER HEAVEN OVER HELL album.

1982: Late Nite with David Letterman premiers on NBC. Bandleader of The World’s Most Dangerous Band is Paul Shaffer.

1986: Corey Hart peaks at #30 on Billboard’s chart with “Everything In My Heart.”

1988: Rush plays in Phoenix. AZ. The show is taped for the SHOW OF HANDS double live album.

1993: The House of Commons did what the Alberta legislaure failed to do five days earlier – honour Alberta native KD Lang for being named best new adult contemporary artist at the American Music Awards.

1994: Bryan Adams‘ song with Sting and Rod Stewart, “All For Love,” tops Billboard’s chart.

1998: Celine Dion releases her new single, “My Heart Will Go On” worldwide. It spends six weeks on the Canadian chart, 20 weeks on Billboard, 21 weeks on the UK chart, 40 weeks on the German pop chart, and six months on the Austrian chart.

1999: Tragically Hip open a two-night stand in Halifax.

1999: SPEED OF SOUND, Anvil’s new album. is released.

2003: Avril Lavigne peaks at #4 on Billboard’s chart with “I’m With You.”

2005: Originally released in 1993, Jann Arden‘s TIME FOR MERCY is re-released on CD.

2005: Nimbus Publishers releases the Dutch Mason autobiography, “On The Road With Dutch Mason.”

2005: Theresa Sokyrka is named UNESCO’s spokesperson for the Associated Schools Project Network, along with Celine Dion

2013: Honeymoon Suite is at The Rockpile in Toronto. Also on the bill are Pier 53, Seeing Red, Kara & The Six Fivers, Astoria, and Shagg.

2014: Killer Dwarfs are at Rockpile East in Toronto. Along with them is special guest Frank Soda.

2019: Doors & Fours release their new album, BLACK MAGIK AND OTHER APHRODESIACS.

2020: Dirt Road Opera release their new single and video, “Seven Shells.”

2020: Evereal release their debut single and video, “I Bleed,” from their upcoming album, FALLING DOWN.

2020: Having had to change their name to avoid a trademark dispute, Renegade is now RenegadeInc. They release their new album, BACK FROM THE DEAD.

2020: Darby Mills is named the new director of the Vernon Community Music School’s Glee Program. Their first production is slated to be Elton John’s “Rocket Man.”
