1946: Kate McGarrigle is born in Montreal.

1964: Gordon Downie of Tragically Hip is born in Amherstview, Ont.

1972: Lighthouse perform in New York City at Carnegie Hall. The show becomes LIGHTHOUSE LIVE, the first Canadian lp to sell 100,000 copies in Canada.

1975: Mahogany Rush is in Cincinnati for a show at Reflections.

1976: BTO release the HEAD ON album, and the first single, “Take It Like A Man.”

1979: Anvil is in Chatham, Ont for a show at The Turf Room. This is long before they ink a record deal and are still going by the name Lips.

1981: Peter Pringle releases his sophomore album, RAIN UPON THE SEA.

1982: Doug & The Slugs release their MUSIC FOR THE HARD OF THINKING album. It debuts on the Canadian chart at #88.

1985: Parachute Club releases the single, “Act of An Innocent.”

1994: Philosopher Kings release their self-titled debut album.

1995: Jann Arden‘s “Insensitive” tops Canada’s pop singles chart, ending a two-week run.

2001: Randy Bachman and CF Turner guest voice on the Simpsons as BTO guest stars, playing at a state fair – even though Bachman wasn’t actually in the band at the time.

2007: Barenaked Ladies release their new album, BARENAKED LADIES ARE MEN.

2007: Jann Arden releases UNCOVER ME.

2008: Feist is awarded the 7th annual Shortlist Music Prize (America’s version of the UK’s Mercury Prize & Canada’s Polaris Music Prize). She wins for her album THE REMINDER, which includes the song “1,2,3,4,” which shot to massive popularity after being used in an Apple iPod TV commercial.

2010: What’s left of The Guess Who is in Indianapolis for two shows at Hoosier Park.

2013: Share The Man – A Tribute To Jack Richardson is put on by the students of Music Industry Arts at Fanshawe College in London, Ontario.

2014: Bill Bourne opens for Matt Anderson at the Winspeark Centre in Edmonton.

2015: Platinum Blonde is on their 30th anniversary tour for a show in Toronto at Hammerson Hall.

2015: Powder Blues are in Ajax, Ontario for a show at St Francis Centre.

2015: The Steadies are in Red Deer, Alta for a show at The Vat.

2015: They haven’t played a full show together for eons, but hometown band China White is together for a pair of nights at Caffrey’s in Edmonton.

2018: Uriah Heep, featuring Canadian singer Bernie Shaw, are in Ottawa kicking off the North American leg of their latest world tour at Brass Monkey.

2019: FKB release their new single, “Backseat Daydream.”

2020: Midlife Maniax release their debut album, CHOCOLATE BOX.
