1945: Glenn Gould auditions for school, tinkling the ivory at the Toronto Conservatory of Music. He’s accepted.

1963: In a small, private ceremony (could be debated since you’re reading about it all these years later), Paul Anka marries Marie Ann Alison Dezogheb in Paris.

1966: “This They Say Is Me” by Rhythm Pals enters the Canadian country chart at #5. Their other hit on the airwaves is “Iron Town” – at #2.

1969: Blood Sweat & Tears appear on The Ed Sullivan Show.

1974: Mahogany Rush is in Montreal for a show at Theatre St Denis to close out a two-night stand.

1974: Anne Murray peaks at #5 on Billboard’s country chart with “Love Song.”

1975: Mahogany Rush is in New York City for a pair of shows the same day at the Lincoln Center.

1977: Brad Walst, bassist for Three Days Grace is born in Asphodel-Norwood, Ontario.

1977: The Juno Awards are held in Toronto. David Steinberg is host. Patsy Gallant, Burton Cummings, Sweeney Todd, Murray McLauchlan, Carroll Baker, and even Heart (they were considered Canadian content at the time) take home awards. Gordon Lightfoot gets greedy and takes home a pair of them.

1980: April Wine end a two week run at #88 on Billboard’s chart with “I Like To Rock.”

1990: KD Lang is featured on the cover of the first issue of Entertainment Weekly, published by Time magazine.

1991: Moving Targetz are in Downsview, Ontario for a show with Random Killing at Nag’s Head Finch.

1994: The Arrogant Worms play at The Grand Theatre in Kingston, Ont. The tapes are used for part of their RUSSEL’S SHORTS album.

1998: Bryan Adams‘ “Back To You” tops Canada’s RPM singles chart for the second of a two-week run, its second kick at the charts cat.

1999: Bryan Adams releases the single, “When You’re Gone.”

2010: Angels To Ashes play the first of two shows in Saskatoon, the first time they’ve played there.

2010: Alexisonfire only get 10 seconds into their free show in Vancouver during the Olympics festivities, after the rush of the audience broke a barricade and people were trampled.

2015: Nickelback release the single, “Miss You.”

2017: Matthew Good begins a three-night run at the Commodore Ballroom in Vancouver.

2018: Headpins and Honeymoon Suite are in Winnipeg for a show at Club Regent Event Centre.

2018: Spoons are in Waterloo, Ontario for a show at Maxwell’s.

2018: Sheepdogs are in Vancouver closing out a two night stand at Commodre Ballroom.

2018: Hedley is in Brandon, Manitoba for a show at the Keystone Centre. Amid numerous allegations of sexual misconduct with girls as young as 14 surfacing, the press is banned from the show.

2018: Pete Rolland releases the video and single, “Part Of Your Game.”

2018: Mike JB Sky releases his new single and video, “Lonewolf.”

2020: Dirt Road Opera release their debut album, NOWHERESVILLE.

2020: Trenchroot release their new single, “Refuse.”
