1916: The tenor duo of Canadian Henry Burr & American Albert Campbell debuted on the American charts with their hit The Wedding Of The Sunshine & The Rose which peaked at #4 & charted for 4 weeks on the Victor label (later acquired by RCA in 1929 to become the RCA Victor label)

1949: Guy Lombardo & His Royal Canadians debut on the American charts with their hit “Down By The Station” which peaks at #20 & charts for 5 weeks on the Decca label.

1937: Hagood Hardy is born in Angola, Indiana.

1963: Lance Chalmers of Trooper and Sump Oil is born in Ottawa.

1967: The Paupers are at New York’s Cafe Au Go Go, opening for Jefferson Airplane.

1972: Frank Mills’ “Love Me Love Me Love” tops Canada’s RPM singles chart, starting a two-week run.

1972: Bim releases the ANYTHING YOU WANT album.

1972: Amish releases their self-titled and only lp.

1973: Mahogany Rush is in Montreal for a live broadcast on Radio-Canada.

1978: Anne Murray releases her album, LET’S KEEP IT THAT WAY.

1981: Black Market release their only album, CHANGING OF THE GUARD.

1983: Saga make Billboard’s singles chart for the first time, peaking at #26 with “On The Loose.”

1980: Nick Gilder and Patsy Gallant both make their second appearance on this, the final episode of The Raes ‘ TV show.

1988: Maclean & Maclean are in Vancouver for a show at The Commodore.

1989: Bruce Cockburn is forced to cancel a hometown show in Ottawa after he falls and breaks his nose while taking the stage.

2000: Danko Jones and Sloan are in Edmonton for a show at the Golden Garter.

2002: Nickelback release the single, “Too Bad.”

2002: Alanis Morrissette releases her third chart-topping album UNDER RUG SWEPT.

2006: Avril Lavigne performs her song “Who Knows” at the Winter Olympics in Torino, Italy.

2011: The Headpins, Harlequin, and Helix rock the Deefoot Casino in Calgary.

2011: Avril Lavigne peaks on Billboard’s chart at #11 with “What The Hell.”

2012: Mary Vingoe’s production of The Glace Bay Miner’s Museum opens at the Neptune Theatre in Halifax, and features Rawlins Cross‘ “MacPherson’s Lament.”

2015: Big sugar is in Sherwood Park, Alberta for an acoustic show at Festival Place.

2016: Hometown girl Renee Malo opens for George Canyon at the Energy Centre in Cold Lake, Alberta.

2015: Natalie MacMaster brings her Visions of Cape Breton show to the Count Basie Theatre in Red Bank, NJ.

2016: Anvil’s new album, ANVIL IS ANVIL, is released.

2016: Spoons and Platinum Blonde are in London, Ontario for a show at the Music Hall.

2016: Voivod release their POST SOCIETY album.

2017: Spoons‘ Gordon and Sandy Deppe tell the stories behind the music during an acoustic performance at the Classic Bowl in Mississauga, Ontario. All proceeds went to the Yonge Street Mission.

2018: Jim Cuddy is in Chilliwack, BC for a show at The Cultural Centre.
