1952: “The Mocking Bird” b/w “Won’cha” from The 4 Lads is released on Columbia Records, their first single.
1956: “Rhythm Pals,” which features the band of the same name, debuts on CBC TV.
1960: Colin Linden is born in Toronto.
1976: Gordon Lightfoot is in Vancouver for a show at the Pacific Coliseum.
1979: Anne Murray gives birth to her daughter Dawn.
1980: Toronto release their debut album, LOOKIN’ FOR TROUBLE.
1983: Flying saucers are sighted by many in attendance, while Frank Marino & Mahogany Rush are on stage during a festival in San Juan, Puerto Rico.
1983: Bryan Adams performs “Straight From The Heart” and “Cuts Like A Knife,” during his first appearance on American Bandstand.
1990: Neil Young and Daniel Lanois are among the performers at the Nelson Mandela – An International Tribute To A Free South Africa concert in London’s Wembley Stadium.
1993: Rawlins Cross release their REEL ‘N ROLL album.

2001: Rising country star Atlanta Jane is born Atlanta Wagmann in Meadow Lake, Sask.

2005: Jann Arden closes her Calgary restaurant, simply called Arden’s.
2007: Aldo Nova releases the sort of ‘best of’ collection UNDER THE GUN – A PORTRAIT OF ALDO NOVA.
2008: Faber Drive’s “When I’m With You” peaks on the Canadian singles chart at #19.
2010: Stephanie Braganza tears the roof off at The Mansion in Kingston. Ont.
2011: George Canyon peaks on Billboard’s country chart at #25 with “Better Be Home Soon.”
2012: Marc Wald, most notable as part of Tommy Hunter’s backup band The Rhythm Pals, dies peacefully in his Nanaimo, BC home at the age of 90.
2013: Rita MacNeil dies at the age of 69.
2014: George Canyon is in Charlottetown, PEI for the East Coast Music Awards.
2016: Jeff Healey peaks at #5 on Billboard’s blues chart with “Heal My Soul.” The album debuts at #66 on the Canadian albums chart. It’s gone a week later.
2017: Kyley Styles is in Calgary for a show at The Smith.
2017: Bob Bryden releases a video for the 1968 Reign Ghost song (and the first tune he’d ever wrote), “Standing Room Only Mr Mars.”
