1897: The Halifax Symphony Orchestra gives its inaugural concert at the Academy of Music.

1914: Canadian Henry Burr along with duo partner American Albert Campbell debuts on the American pop charts with “When My Ship Comes In” which peaked at #4 & charted for 6 weeks.

1915: Peerless Quartet led by Henry Burr debuts on the American pop charts with “Virginia Lee” which peaked at #4 & charted for 5 weeks.

1945: Producer/arranger and head of Dr Music, Doug Riley is born in Toronto.

1958: Luba is born in Montreal as Lubomyra Kowalchyk.

1965: Keyboardist Gogo of Trooper fame is born in Nanaimo, BC as Paul Roland Gogo.

1971: “Rise ‘n’ Shine” by Dick Damron debuts on the Canadian country chart at #41.

1971: Ronnie Hawkins peaks at #11 with “Patricia.”

1971: Andy Kim peaks at #62 on Billboard’s chart with “I Wish I Were.”

1974: The Band is supposed to be in Providence, Rhode Island for a show at Brown University, but the show is cancelled.

1976: Bachman-Turner Overdrive debut on the Billboard pop chart with “Lookin’ Out For #1” which peaked at #65 & charted for 6 weeks. It also debuted on the Cash Box pop chart where it peaked at #79 & charted for 5 weeks.

1976: Hammersmith opens for KISS at the Arena in London, Ont.

1979: Rush and Max Webster are in Newcastle, England for the second night in a row at City Hall.

1980: Triumph is in Seattle, Washington for a show at the Paramount Northwest Auditorium.

1988: Rush performs the third night in four days in Birmingham, England. The shows become the A SHOW OF HANDS video.

1993: Rik Emmett‘s IPSO FACTO album is certified gold in the US for 500,000 copies sold.

1996: Shania Twain wins the best single award for “The Woman in Me” and is named best new female singer at the annual Academy of Country Music Awards.

2001: Treble Charger sees their WIDE AWAKE BORED album released Stateside.

2004: Jim Byrnes releases his FRESH HORSES album.

2009: April Wine is in Dallas, Texas for a show at The Granada Theatre.

2010: The Arrogant Worms perform the second of back to back nights at Horizon Stage in Edmonton.

2010: Paul Brandt receives an Honorary Doctorate of Divinity from Briercrest College and Seminary.

2013: During a release party at the Yukon Arts Centre in Whitehorse, Claire Ness releases her debut album, HOPELESS ROMANTIC. The show is actually taped, and becomes the basis of her second album, JACKFISH GIRL LIVE, a year later.

2015: Former Barenaked Ladies frontman Steven Page is a guest speaker at the Western Regional Canadian Pension & Benefits Institute (CPBI) conference in Banff, Alberta.

2015: Kim Mitchell is in Mississauga, Ontario for a show at the Living Arts Centre.

2015: The Steadies are in Victoria, BC for a show at the Esquimalt Inn.

2017: Cheetah Chrome and Johnny Blitz of the Dead Boys celebrate YOUNG LOUD AND SNOTTY’s 40th anniversary by playing it in its entirety to a sold-out crowed at Stop Drop & Roll in Toronto. It kicks off a month long tour of Ontario.
