1966: The Mamas & The Papas, featuring
Denny Doherty, top Billboard’s chart with “Monday Monday.”
1970:Luke & The Apostles are in Toronto for a show at St Gabe’s.
1971:Ocean peaks on Billboard’s chart at #2 with “Put Your Hand In The Hand.” It’s the band’s first time on Billboard, and they’re biggest hit.
1973:Bachman Turner Overdrive release their self-titled debut lp. It takes six months to hit the American charts, and over a year before the single “Let It Ride” cracked the top 25.
1976:Hammersmith open for KISS in Toronto at Maple Leaf Gardens.
1977:Jesse Winchester plays at The Bottom Line in New York City, his first time in his native country since moving to Canada to avoid the draft a decade earlier.
1980:Harold Macintyre releases his first single, “Before She Made Me Crawl.”
1985:Coney Hatch is with Krokus and Accept, at the Hemisfair Arena in San Antonio, Texas.
1986:Nuthin’ Pritty release their self-titled debut EP.
1989: Geddy Lee ofRush is in a Winnipeg studio and cameos on Dr. Licks’ STANDING IN THE SHADOWS OF MOTOWN. Geddy plays the speaking part of the Yiddish nephew, Grshn Lzr.
1989:Pat Travers is in Vancouver for a show at the Commodore Ballroom.
1994:Rush is in Providence, RI for a show at the Civic Center.
1996:Nickelback releases their first full length album, CURB.
1997:Econoline Crush is in Saskatoon, opening for KISS at Saskatchewan Place.
1999:Jason McCoy marries his longtime sweetheart Terrine Barnes.
2007: Faber Drive release their second record, and first full length album, SEVEN SECOND SURGERY.
2007:Rush release their 19th studio lp, SNAKES AND ARROWS.
2008:The Townsmen release the double album WE’RE DOING FINE – THE ANTHOLOGY.
2010: Jazz great Rob McConnell, who recorded over 30 albums with The Boss Brass, passes away at the age of 75 from cancer.
2013: OriginalBTO guitarist Tim Bachman is found not guilty of three sexual assault charges in a New Westminster, BC courtroom.
2016: Blitz is at home in Brampton, Ontario for a free show at Gage Park.
2018: Uriah Heep, featuring Canadian singer Bernie Shaw, are in Calgary at the Palace Theatre, closing out the North American leg of their most recent world tour.
2018: David Gogo releases his new single, “Jet Set.”
