1945: Goldy McJohn of Steppenwolf is born as John Raymond Goadsby in Toronto.

1955: Bassist Ken “Spider” Sinnaeve ( Streetheart, Loverboy) is born in Regina.

1957: Lucasta Ross of B-Girls and Minutes From Downtown is born in Toronto as Luchasta Rochas.

1960: Hank Snow peaks on Billboard’s country chart at #22 with “Rockin’ Rollin’ Ocean.”

1965: Carson Cole is born in Brownsfield, Alberta.

1966: The Allan Sisters debut on RPM’s Top 100 at #99 with “Dream Boy.”

1981: The Kingbees are on American Bandstand, performing “The Big Rock” and “She Can’t Make Up Her Mind.”

1991: Northern Pikes are in Chatham, Ontario for a show at the Cultural Centre.

1992: Aquarius releases their last Corey Hart album, ATTITUDE & VIRTUE.

1997: Econoline Crush opens for KISS on their reunion tour in Edmonton. The opening act is drowned out by chants of “WE WANT KISS!” … They eventually leave the stage in frustration and the crowd sings amongst itself for awhile until the headliners take the stage.

1997: A concert on CBC Radio’s “Morningside” raises around $450,000 for Manitoba flood victims. The concert includes performances broadcast from every province except Saskatchewan. Among the performers are Murray McLauchlan, who sang his ballad “Red River Valley,” and Valdy, who composed a new song, “As the Waters Fall.”

1997: Rik Emmett releases his TEN INVITATIONS album.

1998: Everyone who’s anyone in Canadian blues is at the Halifax Metro Centre for Dutch Mason‘s 60th birthday party. The concert is filmed by the CBC and released as DUTCHIE’S 60TH BIRTHDAY LIVE!

2002: Alanis Morrissette‘s JAGGED LITTLE PILL exits Ireland’s albums chart for the second time, six years after the first round.

2006: Unable to use the name ” The Guess Who ” due to a sticky legal situation with bassist Jim Kale, Randy Bachman and Burton Cummings release THE BACHMAN CUMMINGS SONGBOOK, a greatest hits package of their material with the group, as well as a few BTO and solo Burton classics. A hugely successful cross-Canada tour that summer ensues, without Kale or the rest of the band.

2011: Charlie Major releases “Through God’s Eyes,” the first single from his ON THE EVENING SIDE album.

2011: Andrew Cash is elected as NDP MP for the Davenport, Ontario district.

2013: Trooper is in Bonnyville, Alberta to play at the Centennial Centre.

2013: Shred Kelly release the single and video, “The Bear.”

2015: The Spoons are in Pembroke, Ontario for a show at Festival Place.

2015: Killer Dwarfs are on the bill at Merriweather Post Pavilion in Columbia, Maryland for a show at M3 Rock Festival.

2015: The Steadies are at home in Saskatoon for a show at the Bessborough Hotel.

2016: Dimo James releases his self-titled debut EP, and the first single, “Sweet Loretta James.”

2018: Orange Citadel release their new single and video, “I Forget.”

2019: The Matley Starsley Band release the first single off their debut album, “I Cried Today.”

2019: Corey Hart releases his new album, DREAMING TIME AGAIN.
