1967: Walter Rossi plays his first show with Wilson Pickett at Massey Hall in Toronto.
1967: The Paupers begin a three night run in San Fransisco at the Fillmore West, backing Jefferson Airplane.
1973: Hank Snow peaks on Billboard’s country chart at #71 with “North To Chicago,” the second of two weeks in that slot.
1973: Keith Hampshire‘s “The First Cut Is the Deepest” tops Canada’s RPM singles chart.
1976: Gordon Lightfoot is in Fort Worth, Texas for a show at the Tarrant County Convention Centre.
1978: Streetheart is in Winnipeg for a show at The Warehouse.
1979: Murray McLauchlan plays The Orpheum Theatre in Vancouver. The show is released as a promo only lp.
1983: Craig Ruhnke releases his album, URBAN BREEZE IN LOVE.
1985: Ottawa raised pianist Angela Hewitt wins first prize at the Toronto International Bach Competition.
1992: 54-40 release the album, DEAR DEAR.
1995: Spirit of the West is at the Orpheum Theatre with the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra – the first of a two-night stand. The shows are taped and become the band’s OPEN HEART SYMPHONY album the next year.
2004: Sugakane releases their debut EP, YEAR ZERO.
2007: Robbie Lane of The Disciples is in a Toronto hospital where doctors operate on him to cure a brain aneurism. The procedure is a success.
2008: Biologist Jason Bond discovers a previously undocumented species of spider. He names it the ‘Neil Young’ spider.
2009: Jim Byrnes releases the MY WALKING STICK album.
2011: Goddo is in Toronto for a show at Rockpile. Guest appearing during “Under My Hat” is Nash The Slash.
2012: Lee Aaron and Harlequin are in Edmonton for a show at Century Casino.
2014: Nash The Slash dies at the age of 66.
2015: Aaron Pritchett releases his greatest hits collection, BODY OF WORK – A COLLECTION OF HITS.
2016: Frank Soda rocks the Rockpile in Toronto.
2016: Alan Doyle holds a benefit concert for the victims of the Fort McMurray wildfire in St John’s, NFLD at The Factory.
2016: Chilliwack‘s Bill Henderson is inducted into the Order of Canada.
2016: Billy Talent release their new single, the title track to their AFRAID OF HEIGHTS album.
2017: The New Customs release their sophomore album, ALL WALLS FAIL.
2017: Road Hammers release their new album, THE SQUEEZE.
2018: Teenage Head are inducted into the Canadian Independent Music Hall of Fame during a ceremony in Toronto.
