1922: Artist, writer, producer, and radio host Jackie Rae is born in Winnipeg as John Arthur Rae.

1944: Singer and actress Catherine McKinnon is born in Saint John, NB.

1946: Dixie Lee Stone, later Dixie Lee Innes of The Original Caste is born in Moose Jaw, SK.

1948: Dianne Heatherington is born in Winnipeg.

1953: Tom Cochrane is born in Lynn Lake, Manitoba.

1966: Crash Test Dummies keyboardist Ellen Reid is born in Selkirk, Manitoba.

1966: Just Us are on Dick Clark’s American Bandstand for the only time, performing “I Can’t Grow Peaches on a Cherry Tree” and “Only If You Love Me.”

1967: The Paupers close out a three night run in San Fransisco at the Fillmore West, backing Jefferson Airplane.

1967: The Sparrow is in San Fransisco at The Matrix. The show is taped and becomes the EARLY STEPPENWOLF album two years later after the band changed its name.

1969: Lighthouse play their first gig ever in Toronto at the Rockpile.

1970: Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young release the single “Ohio,” ten days after the shooting of four students at Kent State University that inspired the song. The band had originally broken up, but Young convinced them to record the song after he wrote it.

1972: The Good Brothers perform together for the first time under that name at the Riverboat club in Toronto.

1972: The Canadian Club Entertainers are in Korl Sound Studios in Edmonton, where they record their second album CC ON THE ROCKS in only three hours.

1974: Ian Thomas performs with the Hamilton Philharmonic, in the wake of his hit, “Painted Ladies.”

1974: The Good Brothers (Brian, Bruce, & Larry) play live together for the first time, at Toronto’s The Riverboat Club.

1979: Blue Peter and Battered Wives are in Toronto for the first of a two night gig at Picadilly Tube.

1981: Leyden Zar is in Montreal for a show at Theatre St Denis.

1985: Coney Hatch is in San Jose, California at the Civic Auditorium, along with Accept.

1988: Glass Tiger peaks at #31 on Billboard with “I’m Still Searching.”

1990: Rush is in Montreal for a show at the Forum.

1998: Joni Mitchell is at General Motors Place in Vancouver for a show with Bob Dylan and Van Morrison.

2002: Bryan Adams releases BEST OF ME, the same day the soundtrack to SPIRIT – THE STALLION OF THE CIMARRON, to which he did the music, is released.

2002: Rush releases the VAPOR TRAILS album.

2005: A special concert in Toronto sees the reunion of both Parachute Club and Martha & The Muffins.

2009: Atreyu release their new single and video, “Blow.”2013: Headstones release their LOVE + FURY album. It debuts at #7 on the Canadian Albums Chart.

2014: Sara McLachlan‘s SHINE ON album debuts at #4 on Billboard’s albums chart.

2014: David Rotundo releases his new single and video, “Devil in the Dress.”

2016: Stonebolt is in New Westminster, BC for a show at Jack Union Public House.

2016: April Wine is in Iowa for a show at Riverside Casino.

2016: Punch Drunk Cabaret is in Nisku, Alberta at Blackjacks Roadhouse for a Fort McMurray relief show.

2016: Thor is in New York City for a show at the Highline Ballroom.

2017: The Steadies are in Shanghai at the Pearl Cabaret, in the middle of their China tour.
