1920: The Canadian Marconi Company station XWA (later CFCF), based in Montlreal, gives the first scheduled radio broadcast in North America.

1935: “What’s The Reason” by Guy Lombardo is on top of Billboard’s chart.

1940: Jackie Shane is born in Nashville.

1970: Mainline are in Toronto for a show at St Gabe’s.

1971: Neil Young, as part of CSNY hits #1 on Billboard’s album charts with FOUR WAY STREET, their sophomore lp.

1976: BTO end a two week run at #65 on Billboard’s chart with “Lookin’ Out For #1.”

1976: Mahogany Rush is in St Petersburg, FL for a show at Bayfront Center.

1976: April Wine‘s THE WHOLE WORLD’S GOIN’ CRAZY album is #1 in Canada for the second of a two-week run. They also happen to be in Vancouver that night for a show at PNE Gardens.

1979: Blue Peter and Battered Wives are in Toronto to close out a two night gig at Picadilly Tube.

1983: Harold MacIntryre releases the single, “Heaven’s As Big As Texas.”

1984: Kick Axe release their debut album, VICES.

1986: Kick Axe opens for Rush in Calgary at the Saddledome.

1992: The Cowboy Junkies are at Berkeley Community Theatre, taping for their LIVE album.

1999: Terri Clark peaks at #69 on Billboard’s country chart with “Everytime I Cry.”

2001: Econoline Crush release their BRAND NEW HISTORY album in the US.

2001: Cowboy Junkies release their album, OPEN.

2001: Nelly Furtado is in London for a show at the BBC studio.

2003: Blue Rodeo sees their PALACE OF GOLD album certified platinum.

2004: Diana Krall peaks on the Billboard jazz chart at #4 with “The Girl In The Other Room.”

2007: Sum 41 release the title track as the first single from the UNDERCLASS HERO album.

2008: The third annual We All Need Love – A Tribute to Domenic Troiano music festival takes place at Toronto’s Palais Royale Ballroom. On the schedule are Bernie LaBarge, Motherlode, Paul DeLong, and Troiano’s bandmates for many years Roy Kenner and Prakash John, among many others.

2009: Alexisonfire release the video to their new single, “Young Cardinals.”

2015: Headpins and Toronto are in Enoch, Alberta for a show at River Cree Casino.

2015: Leonard Cohen releases his new album, CAN’T FORGET.

2018: Jessica Mitchell releases the single and video, “Heart of Glass.”

2018: Twin sister sensations Alanna and Brianne Fionn are in Vancouver for a show at Cabaret Theatre.
