1958: Junkhouse guitarist Dan Achen is born in Regina.

1974: Justin Paige plays his first show in the Maritimes, at the Jolly Roger in Campbellton, NB.

1974: Andy Kim is on “American Bandstand,” pretending to sing “Rock Me Gently” live.

1974: Mahogany Rush is in Sarnia, Ontario for a show at the Sarnia Arena.

1977: Goddo enter Toronto’s Sounds Interchange Studios to begin work on what would become the WHO CARES? album.

1982: Coney Hatch release their self-titled debut album.

1985: Bryan Adams and Neil Young are the only Canadians to play at Live Aid at Philadelphia’s JFK Stadium. There are none at the Wembley Arena portion.

1985: Corey Hart‘s “Never Surrender” is on top of Canada’s RPM singles chart for the second week.

1991: Alias peak on Billboard’s chart at #90 with “Perfect World.”

1993: At the All-Star baseball game in Baltimore, Rush‘s Geddy Lee, a big Jays fan, sings “Oh Canada.”

1996: Nickelback shoots their first video for “Fly” in Vancouver. Only MuchMusic airs it.

1999: Rush‘s Geddy Lee cameos on “The Road” on Euphoria’s debut album.

1999:I Mother Earth release the BLUE GREEN ORANGE album.

2002: In a ceremony in Hamilton, Garth Hudson receives the Canada South Blues Society’s Lifetime Achievement Award.

2004: Goddo‘s self titled debut, AN ACT OF GODDO and WHO CARES? are all re-released in the US, same time as the new album, KINGS OF THE STONED AGE.

2004: Tal Bachman releases his sophomore album, STARING DOWN THE SUN.

2005: Emerson Drive is the entertainment in Lac La Biche, Alberta at the Kinsmen Grounds, as part of the province’s Centennial celebration. Also on the card were Mary Kieftenbeld, Danita Lynn, Priscilla Morin, Northern Highways, and Crystal Plamondon.

2006: George Canyon releases the SOMEBODY WROTE LOVE album.

2006: Aldo Nova releases the video and song, “Dyin’ From A Broken Heart.”

2009: Billy Talent release their BILLY TALENT III album in the UK.

2009: Faber Drive release the single, “Get Up & Dance.”

2010: Great Big Sea releases the SAFE UPON THE SHORE album.

2011: Robin Brock is among the performers at the Sturgis North Festival in Sturgis, ND.

2014: Kim Mitchell is on stage at the Big Music Fest in Kitchener, Ont. Slash joins him for “Battle Scar.”

2017: The fourth annual Pemberton Music Festival was slated to begin, but was cancelled a couple of months earlier when the promoter declared bankruptcy.

2017: Road Hammers open up the four-day Country Thunder Saskatchewan festival in Craven.

2018: The Armstrong Metalfest goes down at Hassen Arena in Armstrong, BC. On the card are some of the hoteest metal bands on the indie circuit, including Nomad, Arkenfire, Gatekeeper, and Throne of the Dead,

2018: Hometown band Mountain Sound have an album release party at Record City, for their five-track debut EP entitled appropriately, VERNON.

2019: Trooper is onstage at Exhibition Grounds in Lloydminster, Sask during Colonial Days.

2019: Unlimiter release their new single, “Paper Thin.”
