1922: Radio station CKCK in Regina, SK signed on for the first time, during a prairie thunderstorm. The station transmitted with a blistering 2,000 watts, from a flat-top antenna attached to two steel towers atop the building. For the next 7 years Bert Hooper was the only station employee, as radio advertising wasn’t accepted.

1965: The Johnny Mann Singers release the album, IF I LOVED YOU.

1965: Hal Willis’ “Nopper The Topper” enters the Canadian country chart at #9.

1969: Andy Kim is on American Bandstand for the first time, performing “Baby I Love You.”

1969: Joni Mitchell is on the Johnny Cash Show. The show’s only been on the air a month and a half and this is her second appearance.

1974: Mahogany Rush is in Cornwall, Ontario for a show at the Cornwall Arena.

1979: Mahogany Rush is in San Diego for a show at the Sports Arena. Opening is AC/DC.

1980: During the Rock Against Radiation concert in Nathan Phillips Square in Toronto, The Viletones share the bill with DOA, Stark Naked and The Fleshtones, Forgotten Rebels, and Joe College and The Rulers.

1993: Loverboy begin a two-week reunion tour in western Canada in Penticton, BC.

1996: Neil Young and Alanis Morissette are the only Canadians at the Pheonex Festival in Stratford, England.

2004: Long John Baldry plays his last show ever on North American soil, appearing with Bobby Cameron at Barrister’s Hall in Columbus, Ohio.

2008: Headpins are in a dimly lit bar in Calgary.

2008: Frank Marino & Mahogany Rush are in Bay Shore, NY for a show at The Boulton Centre.

2009: Frank Marino & Mahogany Rush are in Cleveland, Ohio for a show at House of Blues.

2009: While playing a show in Brampton, Ont, Lighthouse drummer Skip Prokop develops chest pains and is taken to hospital as a precautionary measure. Thankfully, it turns out to be nothing more than a serious case of indigestion.

2012: Clayton Bellamy sings the national anthem to kick off the Bonnyville Chuckwagon Races.

2013: Canada Post announces it will release a new set of stamps later in the year, featuring Rush, The Guess Who, Tragically Hip, and Beau Dommage.

2014: April Wine, Loverboy, and Burton Cummings (with The Carpet Frogs) are in Cold Lake, Alberta for a show at the Energy Centre.

2014: Our Lady Peace is headlining the day’s Klondike Days festivities in Edmonton.

2014: Harlequin and Lee Aaron are at Deerfoot Casino in Calgary.

2015: Theory of a Deadman is on the mainstage at K Days in Edmonton.

2017: Platinum Blonde is in White Rock, BC for a show at The Pier.

2018: Robin Brock is on stage in Sicamous, BC for Summer Stomp.

2019: Headpins, Streetheart , and Holly Woods & Toronto are in Red Deer, Alberta for a show at Westerner Days.

2019: Chris Casserly releases his new single, “Make An Angel.”
