1952: Reg Denis of Crackers is born in Ville Marie, Quebec.
1959: Hank Snow peaks at #6 on Billboard’s country chart with “Chasin’ A Rainbow.”
1963: Canadian Sweethearts release the album, FREIGHT TRAIN, and the title track as the first single.
1964:Bobby Curtola‘s “As Long As I’m Sure of You” peaks at # 11 on the Canadian charts.
1968: Steppenwolf release “Born to Be Wild” to the delight of bikers everywhere. The lyrics are responsible for the term “heavy metal,” according to some. They’re also on American Bandstand for the second time in three months, lip-synching the song again.
1974: Andy Kim releases “Rock Me Gently,” his biggest single success.
1985: It’s week three of a four-week run for Corey Hart‘s “Never Surrender” on top of Canada’s RPM singles chart.
1985: New Regime‘s self-titled debut album peaks at #87 on the Canadian albums chart.
1990: Pursuit of Happiness are at home in Edmonton, opening for Kim Mitchell at the Northlands Agricom.
1992: Goddo is in Edmonton for a show at Peoples Pub. It’s the first of a two-night stand.
1993: Headstones release their debut album, PICTURE OF HEALTH.
2001: Stompin’ Tom Connors is in Edmonton for a show at Skyreach Centre. Opening is Randy J Martin.
2002: Bryan Adams is live in Hyde Park, London, England.
2006: Loverboy headline opening night at Rock The Park in London, Ont.
2008: Despite criticism that he’d be booed off the stage, Paul McCartney sang in front of the masses at Plains of Abraham during Quebec’s 400th anniversary. He wasn’t booed, and he even attempted a few French phrases.
2008: Frank Marino is in Alexandria, Virginia for a show at Birchmere.
2010: The Toronto blues community gets together at the Hollywood on Queensway for a benefit show for Danny Brooks, who’d recently gone in for heart surgery.
2010: Finger Eleven releases their new single, “Living In A Dream” on iTunes.
2011: Burton Cummings joins The Steve Miller Band on stage during a show in Paso Robles, California.
2012: Clayton Bellamy and Headpins are both at Churchill Square, performing during the Taste of Edmonton festival.
2014: Bachman Turner take the stage at Edmonton’s Klondike Days.
2015: Lynne Hanson is in Montreal for a show at Grumpy’s Bar.
2015: The Dead South are in Toronto for a show at Nathan Phillips Square during the Pan-American Games.
2016: The New Customs releases their self-titled debut album.
2018: Renee Malo is at home in Cold Lake, Alberta for a show at Grand Parlour Theatre.
2018: 54-40 and Billy Talent both headline K Days fun in Edmonton, but at different venues.
2019: Headpins and Holly Woods & Toronto are in Carlyle, Sask for a show at Bear Claw Casino and Resort.
2019: Punch Drunk Cabaret and Streetheart open for Honeymoon Suite in Edmonton at K Days.
2020: Lopez The Wolf releases his new single and video, “Tight.”
