1950: Crosstown Bus and BTO guitarist Blair Thornton is born in Vancouver.

1950: Ian Thomas is born in Hamilton.

1954: The Crew Cuts reach the top spot of the Billboard pop singles chart with “Sh-Boom,” a song many consider to be the premier forerunner of 1950s rock and roll. The tune stays at the top for seven weeks.

1963: Neil Young‘s first band The Squires cut their first recording session in Winnipeg.

1969: Joni Mitchell is in New York City at the Wollman Skating Rink during the Schaefer Music Festival.

1974: Mahogany Rush are in Cleveland, Ohio to close out a two night stand at the Agora Ballroom.

1977: Burton Cummings‘ sophomore album, MY OWN WAY TO ROCK peaks at #51 on Billboard’s album chart.

1977: Hank Snow’s “Trouble In Mind” enters Billboard’s country chart at #85.
