1959: Paul Anka, as well as Ronnie Hawkins and The Hawks, better known later as The Band, debut on Dick Clark’s Beech-Nut Show. Anka pretends to perform “Lonely Boy” and “Put Your Head On My Shoulder.” Hawkins and company lip-synch “40 Days” and “Mary Lou.”

1964: Colin James is born Colin James Munn in Regina, SK.

1969: Crosby Stills Nash & Young are on stage at Woodstock. Neil Young opted out of the mostly acoustic set portion of the show. It was also only the second time he’d played with them. The Band and Blood Sweat & Tears are also on the bill on this, the festival’s closing day.

1969: Steppenwolf perform “Born To Be Wild” and “Magic Carpet Ride” during their only appearance ever on the Ed Sullivan Show.

1970: Hank Snow peaks on Billboard’s country chart at #52 with “Vanishing Breed.”

1974: Neil Young peaks at #69 on Billboard’s chart with “Walk On.”

1974: Paul Anka‘s duet with Odia Coates, “You’re Having My Baby,” peaks on the German chart at #15.

1977:Rush kick off the FAREWELL TO KINGS tour in Davenport, Iowa at the Orpheum Theater. It’s also the first time they headline their own major tour, never appearing as an opening act again.

1981: Karen Silver‘s “Boy From New York City” cracks Canada’s top 40.

1985: Corey Hart peaks at #3 on Billboard’s chart with “Never Surrender.”

1985: Helix‘s LONG WAY TO HEAVEN peaks at #103 on Billboard’s albums chart.

1988: Mitsou releases the single, “Les Chinois.”

1990: Tim Feehan releases the FULL CONTACT album.

1991: Bryan Adams is on top of Canada’s singles chart with “Everything I Do” for the third straight week.

1995: Charlie Major releases the single, “I Do It For The Money.”

1998: Stompin’ Tom Connors is in Moncton, NB for a show at the Capitol Theatre.

2008: Frank Marino is in Denver, Colorado for a show at Soiled Dove Underground.

2009: Lighthouse is at Casino Rama in Rama, Ontario, opening for Bachman Cummings.

2013: Trooper is in Port Coquitlam, BC celebrating the city’s centennial.

2013: Coney Hatch and Loverboy are in Spanish, Ontario for a show at Four Seasons Resort.

2013: Pat Travers is on the bill at Casino Rama, in Rama, Ontario.

2016: Punch Drunk Cabaret are on the bill in Kamloops, BC at Music in the Park.

2017: Whale & The Wolf are in Windsor, Ontario for a show at the Beer Exchange.

2017: Krazy Madness releases the video for their new single, “Can’t Get You Off My Mind.”

2018: Lee Aaron kicks off Rock Ambelside in Vancouver. Loverboy closes out the night.

2018: The annual Edmonton Rock Music Festival at Hawryluk Park sees Saga closes out Night One.

2018: Headpins are in Little Current, Ontario for Rockin’ The Rock.

2019: The Bear Creek Folk Fest goes down in Grande Prairie, Alberta. Headlining Day Two is Feist, with Crash Test Dummies opening.

2019: Sass Jordan, Saga, Pat Travers, and Tom Cochrane are all on the card at Ambleside Park in Vancouver.

2019: Social Strife is in Ajax, Ontario for a show at Monkey Wrench.

2019: Terri Clark is in Calgary for the final day of Country Thunder at Prairie Willows Park.

2019: Greg Rider is among the finalists on the TV show, The Shot.
