1944: Motherlode keyboardist “Smitty” Smith is born in Toronto as William Daniel Smith.

1963: Gwar frontman Dave Brockie is born in Ottawa.

1969: “When I Die” by Motherlode tops Canada’s RPM singles chart for the second and last week.

1969: BABY I LOVE YOU b y Andy Kim peaks at #82 on Billboard’s albums chart.

1970:

Leonard Cohen and his band The Army are in England and on stage at the Isle of Wight Festival.

1971: The RCMP Musical Ride is at PNE Coliseum in Vancouver for the fourth of a six-night run, with The Young Canadians of The Calgary Stampede.

1974; Copperpenny‘s Ken Hollis tests the solo waters, releasing the flop single, “Brenda.”

1976: Beau Dommage release the PASSAGERS album.

1982: Aldo Nova opens for Blue Oyster Cult at Northlands Coliseum in Edmonton.

1990: Paul Anka becomes an American citizen in Las Vegas. While the official paperwork is done, his car is towed away by the police for being parked in a handicapped zone.
