1945: Valdy is born in Ottawa as Valdemar Horsdal.

1964: Hal Willis releases the single, “Lumberjack.” It would eventually peak at #1 on the Canadian chart, crack the top 5 in the US, and sell 1.5 million copies.

1964: RPM Magazine prints Canada’s first ever national pop chart.

1968: Skip Prokop and Brad Campbell play their last show with The Paupers, at New York’s Electric Circus.

1970: Mitsou is born in Loretteville, Quebec as Mitsou Annie Marie Gelinas.

1971: The RCMP Musical Ride ends a six night run at PNE Coliseum in Vancouver, with The Young Canadians of The Calgary Stampede.

1973: JD Fortune of “Rockstar INXS” fame is born in Missisauga, ON, as Jason Dean Bennison.

1973: Les Emmerson’s “Cry Your Eyes Out” peaks at #20 on the Canadian chart.

1976: Mahogany Rush is the only Canadian act in New York City for the final year of the Schaefer Music Festival.

1980: The Good Brothers‘ show at the CNE Grandstand in Toronto becomes part of their LIVE album later that year.

1981: Leyden Zar is in Bromont, Quebec for a show at Centre Olympique.

1984: It’s his first time on Billboard’s chart, and

Corey Hart‘s “Sunglasses At Night” peaks at #7.

1983 Coney Hatch opens for Fastway and Iron Maiden in Rochester, NY for a show at the Community War Memorial.

1984: Helix‘s “Rock You” peaks at #32 on Billboard’s chart.

1984: April Wine performs a sold-out show at the Civic Centre in Ottawa.

1983:Anne Murray is on Solid Gold, where she lip synchs “A Little Good News.”

1985: Kim Mitchell is in Collingwood, Ontario for a show at the local community centre.

1995; Stampeders released SWEET CITY WOMAN, which was really AGAINST THE GRAIN, complete with a few extras, on Collectables Records in the US.

1997:

Sarah McLachlan tops Canada’s RPM singles chart with “Building A Mystery” for the fifth straight week.

1998: Nickelback release their THE STATE album.

2003: Billy Talent re-release their debut EP, TRY HONESTY, and the title track as its first single.

2005: Hometown boy Clayton Bellamy performs at the Bonnyville celebrations for Alberta’s centennial party. Also on the bill are Flat Lake’s Brett Kissell and Cold Lake’s Walter Hrycauk, and Bobby Curtola and Paul Brandt on the big screen.

2007: Hey Romeo release their self-titled debut album.

2009: Social Code releases their third lp, ROCK N ROLL.

2012: Default is on stage on the closing night at the annual Kinsmen bbq in Telkwa, BC.

2012: Corb Lund peaks at #51 on Billboard’s country albums chart with CABIN FEVER.

2012: Shred Kelly release their IN THE HILLS album.

2017: Burton Cummings, Sass Jordan, Stampeders, and Gowan are in Moncton, NB for the Labour Day Rockfest at the River Glen Amphitheatre.

2018: In homage to its most famous son, the late Streetheart and Witness Inc frontman Kenny Shields a sign commemorating him in Nokomis, Saskatchewan.

2018: Redhill Valleys release their new single and video, “Take A Lot of Pain.”

2019: Atlanta Jane releases her new single, “Lost Without You.”
