1939: Early country star R Harlan Smith is born on a farm near Central Butte, Saskatchewan.

1940: Guy Lombardo releases the single, “The Moon Fell In The River.”

1944: Bill Henderson of Collectors, Chilliwack, and UHF is born in Vancouver.

1948: Steppenwolf bassist Rushton Moreve is born in LA as John Rushton Morey.

1949: Herman Geiger-Torel launches the new Royal Conservatory Opera Company with an opening night at the Royal Alexandra Theatre in Toronto. The company was renamed the Canadian Opera Association in 1960, and then the Canadian Opera Company in 1977.

1971: Lighthouse are on Billboard’s singles chart for the first time, peaking at #24 with “One Fine Morning.”

1974: Myles & Lenny release their self-titled debut album.

1974: Mahogany Rush are in Atlanta to open a four-night stand at the Electric Ballroom.

1976: Ronnie Prophet peaks at #82 on Billboard’s country chart with “Big Big World.”

1979: Trooper and Christopher Ward are the guests on The Raes ‘ TV show.

1982: Coney Hatch opens for Judas Priest in Edmonton at Northlands Coliseum.

1983: Coney Hatch is in Montreal for a show at the Bonaventure Hilton.

1985: Helix release their LONG WAY TO HEAVEN album, as well as its first single, “Deep Cuts The Knife.”

1992: Crowbar release the greatest hits album, MEMORIES ARE MADE OF THESE.

2006: Lynne Hanson releases her debut solo album, THINGS I MISS.

2006: Sum 41 are in LA at Ocean Way Studio, working on their upcoming album, UNDERCLASS HERO.

2007: Tim Vaughn is at the Odeon in Saskatoon.

2009: The Livid release their new single, “Tin Man.”

2010: Pumps aka Orphan are in Winnipeg for a show at The Oak.

2012: Jimmy Rankin releases his holiday album, TINSEL TOWN.

2014: Theresa Sokyrka opens for John Bryant at the Bassment in Saskatoon.

2014: Trews are in Red Deer, Alberta for a show at the Memorial Centre.

2015: Library Voices release their new album, LOVISH.

2015: Hedley release their new album HELLO, as well as the title track as the first single.

2015: iFORANi release their new single, “Evolution is the Solution.”

2015: Micronite Filters, MIP Power Trio and Blackdog Ballroom are on stage during an epic rock show at Cherry Cola’s in Toronto.

2015: The Road Hammers, Boom Chuka, and Tim HIcks are in Lacombe, Alberta, the winners of a new CMT contest and show called “One Horse Town.”

2017: The Leonard Cohen tribute, Tower of Song, takes place at Montreal’s Bell Centre. Performers include KD Lang, Ron Sexsmith, Sting, Elvis Costello, Courtney Love, and Feist, among others.

2019: Adam Cousins is in Oshawa, Ont for the second of a three night stand at The Corral.
