1943: Joni Mitchell is born in Fort Macleod, Alberta as Roberta Joan Anderson.

1951: Kevin MacMichael, a co-founding member of the 1980s pop group Cutting Crew, is born in Saint John, NB.

1955: Shirley Rose Eikhard is born in Sackville, NB.

1966: Little Caesar & The Consuls enter the Canadian pop chart at #94 with “Mercy Mr Mercy.”

1966: The Ugly Ducklings‘ “She Ain’t No Use To Me” peaks at #32 on the Canadian chart.

1966: Dee & The Yeomen enter the Canadian charts at #98 with “In A Minute Or Two.”

1966: It’s taken nearly three months to get there, but Staccatos crack the Canadian top 40 with “Run Away With Me.” A week later it’s back out.

1974: It’s the second of a four-night stand for Mahogany Rush in Atlanta at the Electric Ballroom.

1974: BTO finish off the concert year with a show at New York’s Fillmore East.

1977: Gino Vannelli releases his PAUPER IN PARADISE album.

1978: Anne Murray sees “You Needed Me” top Billboard’s pop chart.

1985: The Cowboy Junkies perform their first show ever at Toronto’s Beverly Tavern.

1987: Helix peaks on Billboard’s albums chart at #179 with WILD IN THE STREETS, ending a two week run.

1987: Rush is in Providence, RI for a show at the Civic Center.

1990: The Rankin Family release their FARE THEE WELL LOVE album.

1991: Moving Targetz play their final show at Rock And Roll Heaven in Toronto, headlining Raging Moon, Glory Hunters, and Big Bang.

1995: Rush‘s Alex Lifeson is at Metalworks Studio in Toronto, where he records his parts for “Just Scream”, “Crawl” and “Will of the Gun” on Tom Cochrane‘s RAGGED ASS ROAD album.

1998: Joni Mitchell is on tour with Bob Dylan, in Atlanta for a show at Georgia Tech.

2003: Neil Young appears at a show in Hong Kong with the Rolling Stones to squash fears of a SARS epidemic. It cost so much to bring them in taxpayers ended up paying over $100 million US to make up the shortfall for the already really expensive ticket prices.

2005: Blue Rodeo release their LIVE AT MASSEY HALL album.

2006: Matt Mays + El Torpedo releases the album WHEN THE ANGELS MAKE CONTACT.

2009: Mike Plume releases his new album, 8:30 NEWFOUNDLAND, during a show in his old hometown of Bonnyville, Alberta.

2009: Junkhouse celebrates 20 years on the scene at the Horseshoe Tavern in Toronto.

2010: Honeymoon Suite play Toronto’s Air Canada Centre. Souvenir hockey pucks are given out.

2011: Dallas Smith releases his new single, “Somebody Somewhere.”

2014: April Wine is in Edmonton for a show at Century Casino.

2014: Trews are in Slave Lake, Alberta for a show at the Conference Centre

2015: Ship of Fools, The Groggies, Beyond The Wall, Jean Is Dead, and Ruthless Ones are all at the Roxy Theatre Sideroom in Barrie, Ont. for Punkfest.

2015: Helix are in Niagara Falls, Ontario for a show at Seneca Queen Theatre.

2016: Leonard Cohen dies in his sleep in his LA home at the age of 82.

2019: Jann Arden is in Regina for a show at the Conexus Arts Centre.

2019: Electicus rocks the Linsmore Tavern in Toronto.

2019: Sun of Man release their new single, “Rebirth.”
